Erperimental Studios of Effects of Chloramptenicol on Peripueral Blood, Bone Marrow and Plasma Iron(Fe59) Disappearance Rate

Abstract
|

|
Fifteen days treatment of rabbits with 50 ㎎ and 250 ㎎ per ㎏. of body weight of
chloramphenicol per day produced varied, results upon peripheral blood, bone marrow
and plasma Fese dis-appearance rate.
Compared to control group, the chloramphenicol treated group exhibited significant
decreases of hemoglobin, erythrocytes, hematocrits, reticulocytes and leukocytes.
However, no significant change in platelets was observed. Also treated rabbits showed
absolute granulocytopenia as well as monocy-topenia.
No abnormalities were observed in cellularity and megakaryocytes of the bone marrow
but mild degree of myeloid and erythroid depression were found.
The plasma-Fe59 disappearance rate was prolonged especially in the
group of rabbits given 250 ㎎. per ㎏. of body weight of chloramphenicol per day.
However, no definite relation of the plasma-Fe 59 disappearence rate to
the marrow erythroid series was established.
